“Sunshine Cleaning” is an engaging independent drama film, cleverly written by Megan Holley and tightly directed by Christine Jeffs. It is the story of two sisters who start a cleaning service that handles hazardous materials. Believe it or not, there are loads of opportunities for drama here, as well as some comedy.
The cast is headed by the very talented pair of actors, Amy Adams and Emily Blunt, who perfectly fit the bill as the entrepreneurial siblings, with Alan Arkin playing their father. Co-stars include Steve Zahn, Eric Christian Olsen, Jason Spevack, Kevin Chapman, Clifton Collins Jr., and Mary Lynn Rajskub, well known as Jack Bauer’s sidekick on television’s long running spy drama “24.”
“Sunshine Cleaning” was a modest hit at the box office, probably mostly in art house cinemas, for Big Beach and Overture Films.
