My Review

Expert storytelling and great production values from director Clint Eastwood (“Play Misty For Me” 1971) tell the true story of airplane pilot Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger’s emergency landing of Flight 1549 on the Hudson River minutes after leaving LaGuardia Airport, in January, 2009. All 155 passengers and crew survived, only a few with minor injuries.

Tom Hanks was perfect in the title role, probably the only major star who could play this kind of part, of national hero Sullenberger. Co-stars include Aaron Eckhart, Laura Linney, Anna Gunn, Ann Cusack, Mike O’Malley, James Sheridan, among others.

Todd Komarnicki penned the excellent screenplay, adapted from Sullenberger’s 2009 memoir “Highest Duty.” “Sully” took flight in theatrical release, making loads of cash for producers Clint Eastwood and Frank Marshall and Warner Bros. Pictures.
