My Review

“Star Trek Generations” completes the transition in the movie series from the cast of the original 1960’s TV show to “The Next Generation” stars of the 1980’s. William Shatner, James Doohan, and Walter Keonig join Patrick Stewart and his crew in another exciting “Star Trek” story about a villain who is attempting to destroy a planetary system. Director David Carson kept the focus of the film on the storyline from the lean screenplay by Ronald A. Moore and Brandon Braga, ensuring a smooth pace of the two hour film. Trek fans should be happy!

TNG cast are all here including Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard, Jonathan Frakes as William Riker, Brent Spiner as Data, Levar Burton as Geordi La Forge, Michael Dorn as Worf, Gates McFadden as Dr. Beverly Crusher, and Marina Sirtis as Deanna Troi. Co-stars include Bill Shatner as James T. Kirk, James Doohan as Montgomery Scott, Walter Keonig as Pavel Chekov, Whoopi Goldberg as Guinan, Malcolm McDowell as Tolian Soran, Patti Yasutake as Alyssa Ogawa, Alan Ruck as John Harriman, Jacqueline Kim as Demora Sulu, and Barbara Marsh and Gwynyth Walsh as Klingon sisters Lursa & B’Etor Duras. The cast also includes Glenn Morshower as a navigator and Tim Russ (the future Tuvoc of TV’s “Star Trek: Voyager”) as a lieutenant.

“Star Trek Generations,” the seventh film in the “Star Trek” movie franchise, was a big hit at the box office for producer Rick Berman and Paramount Pictures.
