My Review

“Sound of Freedom” is an exciting action film about a former government agent who goes on a mission to rescue children from sex traffickers in Columbia. Director Alejandro Monteverde (“Bella” 2006) based the film on the true life experiences of former Homeland Security agent Tim Ballard. Monteverde co-wrote the screenplay with Rod Barr, putting together this fast-moving film that holds the audience’s attention through the more than two hour duration of the movie.

Jim Caviezel, known for his role as Jesus in “Passion of the Christ” (2004), turns in an outstanding performance as Campbell, who inspires many viewers with his courage and conviction to help out these children who have been kidnapped by criminal elements. The cast also includes Mira Sorvino, Bill Camp, Jose Zuniga, Eduardo Verastegui, Javier Godino, Kurt Fuller, Gary Basaraba, Gerardo Teracena, Scott Haze, and Gustavo Sanchez Parra.

“Sound of Freedom” was produced by Santa Fe Films, set to be released five years ago by 20th Century Fox, but shelved by the Walt Disney Company when they purchased Fox. Angel Studios bought the distribution rights from Disney, and now “Sound of Freedom” is a huge hit at the box office.
