“San Andreas” is the typical disaster movie directed by Brad Peyton, who was reunited with star Dwayne Johnson from “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” of 2012. There are few “faults” to find with the film, and not much new either. It has good acting, loads of action, a solid screenplay by Carlton Cuse, and unbelievable special effects showing collapsing buildings in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Johnson plays a helicopter pilot who decides to fly from L. A. to San Francisco in his chopper during the widespread destruction in California, along with Carla Gugino, who plays his estranged wife. The supporting cast includes Paul Giamatti, Will Yun Lee, Alexandra Daddario, Ioan Gruffudd, Archie Panjabi, Hugo Johnston-Burt, Kylie Minogue, and Art Parkinson.
The watchable “San Andreas” is a very structurally sound motion picture that was successful at the box office for New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Pictures.
