“Rocketman” is a biopic about the life and career of singer Elton John. Actor Taron Egerton turned in a good performance as the pop star, with helpful direction by Dexter Fletcher (“Wild Bill” 2011) and written by Lee Hall.
Other actors include Jamie Bell as Bernie Taupin, Gemma Jones as Elton’s grandmother, and Bryce Dallas Howard as the singer’s mum. Also appearing are Richard Madden, Stephen Graham, Steven Mackintosh, Tate Donovan, Charlie Rowe, and Tom Bennett.
“Rocketman” did not do well at the box office, as Elton John’s life does not excite people enough to rush to the movie theaters. Unfortunately for Paramount Pictures, this barely watchable artsy picture does not get people to take a cinematic tour down the yellow brick road.
