My Review

“Robinson Crusoe on Mars” is a science fiction films telling the story of an astronaut stranded on Mars. Director Byron Haskin (“Captain Sinbad” 1963) clearly did an excellent job at the helm of this picture that has excellent production values, special effects, and dramatic performances. The screenplay by John C. Higgins and Ib Melchior was adapted from the 1719 novel “Robinson Crusoe” by Daniel Defoe.

The cast includes Paul Mantee, Victor Lundin, and Adam West, soon to become famous in the title role in the television series “Batman” (1966-1968). The watchable “Robinson Crusoe on Mars” was filmed in Death Valley, California, in Technicolor and Techniscope. It was not successful at the box office for Schenck-Zabel Productions and Paramount Pictures.
