My Review
Some of Ronald Reagan’s service in World War II included starring in educational short films for the United States military. “Recognition of the Japanese Zero Fighter” was one such movie, produced by the First Motion Picture Unit of the U. S. Army Air Force.
Most of the twenty minute film features Reagan portraying a young pilot ordered on reconnaissance missions in the Pacific theater. He has trouble recognizing if the plane he encounters is friendly or not. The film contains animated segments illustrating the differences between the Japanese Zero and the American planes. “Recognition of the Japanese Zero Fighter” was distributed to service members by the Office of War Information. It was narrated by Art Gilmore.
