My Review

From humble beginnings in the MidWest to the glitter of Hollywood to the world stage, the story of the 40th President of the United States is told in “Reagan.” Director Sean McNamara (“Soul Surfer” 2011) skillfully put together a comprehensive look at the life of Ronald Wilson Reagan from childhood to his last years after leaving office. McNamara also did not hesitate to show the growth of his Christian faith, with the childhood years covered in flashbacks. The lucid screenplay was written by Howard Klausner, based on the 2007 book “The Crusader: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism” by Paul Kengor.

Dennis Quaid is excellent in the title role – he played Ronald Reagan in a straight forward, believable fashion. Co-stars include Penelope Ann Miller as Nancy Reagan, Amanda Righetti as Nelle Reagan, Jennifer O’Neill as the older Nelle Reagan, Nick Searcy as James Baker III, C. Thomas Howell as Caspar Weinberger, Kevin Dillon as Jack L. Warner, Mena Suvari as Jane Wyman, Scott Stapp as Frank Sinatra, Jon Voight as Viktor Petrovich, Lesley-Anne Down as Margaret Thatcher, Robert Davi as Leonid Breshnev, Dan Luria as Tip O’Neill, Xander Berkeley as George Schultz, Aleksander Krupa as Mikhail Gorbachev, Justin Chatwin as Jack Reagan, Chris Massoglia as Pat Boone, Skip Schwink as Pres. Jimmy Carter, and Kevin Sorbo as Rev. Cleaver.

The very entertaining, informative, and watchable “Reagan” is popular in current theatrical release for producer Mark Joseph, MJM Entertainment Group, and ShowBiz Direct. “Reagan” was number four on the opening weekend, August 30 – September 1, 2024.
