“Primal” is a action-adventure film about a big game hunter, played by Nicholas Cage, who captures a valuable white jaguar for a zoo, as well as two rare snakes and troop of monkeys. His dream of a big payday is interrupted by another dangerous cargo – a psychotic political assassin facing extradition to America. All heck breaks loose when the assassin gets free and is roaming the ship with the deadly animals also on the loose. The film was produced by The Pimienta Film Group and Lionsgate.
Director Nick Powell does an outstanding job of creating a story with incredible suspense, worthy of one of Alfred Hitchcock’s movies. The screenplay by Richard Leder is also top rate, a story that actually has a beginning, middle, and end, like films out of old Hollywood. The stars of the show deliver good performances including Nicholas Cage, Famke Janssen, Michael Imperioli, LaMonica Garrett, Kevin Durand, Jeremy Nazario, Braulio Castillo Jr., Tommy Walker, and Sewell Whitney as Scuddy.
