Wacky comedy abounds in the 2018 remake of the 1987 film “Overboard.” Anna Faris and Eugenio Derbez fill in for Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell in this story of a working class single mom who convinces a rich playboy with amnesia that they are married.
Director Rob Greenberg (tv show “Scrubs” 2001-2010), who also co-wrote the screenplay with Bob Fisher and Leslie Dixon, presided over this low-quality comedy that does have some genuine laughs. The viewer just needs to realize that “Overboard” is not Shakespeare and take the good with the bad. The supporting cast in this Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer picture includes Eva Longoria and Swoosie Kurtz.
