My Review

“On Dangerous Ground” is the typical film noir crime drama headlined by a talented cast including Ida Lupino, Robert Ryan, and Ward Bond. Ryan plays a police detective who joins a manhunt for a murderer of a little girl. Director Nicholas Ray (“Rebel Without a Cause” 1955) put together an entertaining film from a lucid screenplay he wrote with A. I. Bezzerides.

The supporting cast includes Ed Begley, Sumner Williams, Charles Kemper, Ian Wolfe, Anthony Ross, Cleo Moore, Gus Schilling, Frank Ferguson, and Olive Carey as Mrs. Brent. This watchable black-and-white film noir is great escapist entertainment from producer John Houseman and RKO Radio Pictures, putting the audience on solid movie ground.
