My Review

“My Girl” is a coming-of-age comedy-drama about the friendship of two eleven-year-olds, a boy and a girl, and the day-to-day activity in their lives. Director Howard Zieff put together a realistic and gentle drama about pre-teens, from a well written screenplay by Laurice Elehwany.

The stars are Macaulay Culkin and Anna Chlumsky. The “veteran” Culkin, just off of his “Home Alone” hit the previous year, and the newcomer Chlumsky in her motion picture debut, demonstrate good chemistry. Co-stars include Dan Aykroyd, Jamie Lee Curtis, Griffin Dunne, Richard Masur, Anthony R. Jones, Peter Michael Goetz, Jane Hallaren, and Ann Nelson as Grandma Sultenfuss.

The watchable “My Girl” was a big hit at the box office for producer Brian Grazer, Imagine Entertainment, and Columbia Pictures.
