If you enjoyed the first two films in the franchise, then “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3” is for you. Director-writer-star Nia Vardalos remained faithful to the storylines of the originals, while actually traveling to Greece to film the third installment. The story involves the Portokalos family on holiday in Greece for a family reunion.
The supporting cast includes most of the gang from the other movies (2002 & 2016), as well as newcomers, including John Corbett, Louis Mandylor, Elena Kampouris, Lainie Kazan, Gia Carides, Joey Fatone, Maria Vacratsis, Elias Kacavas, Gerry Mendicino, Melina Kotselou, and veteran show biz personality Andrea Martin as Aunt Voula. The cast did not include Micheal Constantine who passed away in 2021.
Cinematographer Barry Peterson deserves credit for the photogenic filming around the beautiful Greek island of Corfu, off of the west coast of Greece. Some location shoots were in Athens. However, this did not help the watchable “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3” as it has not done well at the box office for producers Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks, Playtone, Artistic Films, Gold Circle Films, and HBO Films.
