There has probably never been such a low-key science fiction film as “Monsters.” This interesting story takes place years after a NASA science probe crashes in Mexico, bringing extraterrestrial life with it. This leads to the northern half of Mexico becoming a quarantined zone. The two main characters must make the trek across the zone to return to America.
Director-screenwriter did a good job with character development and subtle appearances by the aliens. The plot flowed evenly throughout the 94 minute movie, with violence and gore almost nonexistent. The small cast includes Scoot McNairy and Whitney Able, stars of “Monsters” from Vertigo Films, a failure at the box office.
