My Review
The saga of Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt comes to an end with “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.” It is an excellent action-adventure spy film with Hunt’s IMF team in a race against time to find The Entity, a rogue artificial intelligence that can destroy the human race. Director-screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie (“Mission: Impossble – Dead Reckoning Part One” 2023) did a magnificent job on this finale, which has outstanding production values, electrifying action sequences, great writing, and wonderful performances in a fast moving 170 running time.
The cast includes Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Henry Czerny, Esai Morales, Nick Offerman, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Cary Elwes, Janet McTeer, Hannah Waddingham, and Angela Bassett as the President of the United States. (It is an interest note that Offerman played Ron Swanson of the NBC sitcom “Parks and Recreation,” 2009-2015, where he went from the local official of Director of Parks and Recreation to this film where he plays the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff.)
The very watchable “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” has been popular in theatrical release for producers Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie, Skydance Media, TC Productions, and Paramount Pictures. Previous “Mission: Impossible” motion pictures were released in 1996, 2000, 2006, 2011, 2015, 2018, and 2023.
