My Review

Tom Cruise continues in his more than three decade reign as one of Hollywood’s top movie stars with “Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation.” This is his fifth appearance as IMF agent Ethan Hunt in this movie series (1996, 2000, 2006, 2011) and likely the most popular one yet with a debut at number one at the box office on the July 31-Aug. 2, 2015, weekend.

Producers Cruise and J. J. Abrams, along with director-screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie (“Edge of Tomorrow” 2014), have kept the production values very high with an exciting story and constantly moving action scenes. The 131 minute film literally flew by.

At the age of 53, Tom Cruise seems to be at the top of his game, delivering a fresh and crisp performance as well as doing most of his own stunts. The opening scene featuring Ethan Hunt on the outside of a flying Airbus A400M Atlas airplane was actually Cruise himself, suspended five thousand feet in the air without a stunt double, or so we are told!

Co-stars include Rebecca Ferguson, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Alec Baldwin, Sean Harris, Simon McBurney, Zhang Jingchu, Jens Hulten, Hermoine Corfield, and Tom Hollander as The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. All part of the fun and games in the watchable “Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation” from Paramount Pictures.
