“Max” is a family friendly adventure film about a military trained dog used to help U. S. Marines in Afghanistan. There is little to complain about in this picture, as it has an even pace with a well thought out storyline from a fantastic screenplay by Sheldon Lettich and Boaz Yakin.
The focused direction by Boaz Yakin (“Remember the Titans” 2000) has all actors performing at peak efficiency. They are Josh Wiggins, Robbie Amell, Thomas Hayden Church, Lauren Graham, Dejon LaQuake, Mia Xitali, Luke Kleintank, Jay Hernandez, Miles Mussenden, Owen Hari, Joseph Julian Soria, and Carlos as Max, the canine lead.
The watchable “Max” was a very modest success at the box office for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, proof that this motion picture has not gone to the dogs.
