My Review

“Madea’s Big Happy Family” continues the story of Mabel “Madea” Simmons and her circle of friends and family. In this sixth of thirteen films in the Madea Cinematic Universe, her niece Shirley experiences health problems, with her three children too preoccupied with their own lives to lend assistance to their mother. It is up to Madea and cousin Aunt Bam to step in. Director-screenwriter Tyler Perry put together this interesting comedy-drama, probably one of the most engrossing of the Madea series. It is based on the 2010 stage play of the same name.

The cast includes Tyler Perry as Madea Simmons and Joe Simmons, Loretta Devine as Shirley, Cassi Davis as cousin Betty Ann (Aunt Bam) Murphy, and Bow Wow, Shannon Kane, and Natalie Desselle-Reid as the three children of Shirley. Co-stars include Tamala Mann, David Mann, Lauren London, Isaiah Mustafa, Rodney Perry, Teyana Taylor, Philip Anthony-Rodriguez, Palmer Williams Jr., and Maury Povich as himself.

The very watchable and entertaining “Madea’s Big Happy Family” was popular at the box office for producer Tyler Perry, Tyler Perry Studios, and Lionsgate Films.
