My Review

“Louisa” is a comedy film where Ronald Reagan plays an architect whose senior citizen mother begins dating two men at the same time, the local grocer and his boss, much to the consternation of the family. Director Alexander Hall (“The Great Lover” 1949) put together a movie that is consistently funny and entertaining for the entire 90 minute running time. He was aided by the professional script by Stanley Roberts.

The talented cast with Ronnie Reagan includes Ruth Hussey as his wife, Spring Byington as his mum, Charles Coburn as his boss, Edmund Gwenn as the grocer, Piper Laurie and Jimmy Hunt as his children, as well as Connie Gilchrist, Martin Milner, Scotty Beckett, Willard Waterman, Terry Frost, Dave Wilcock, and Marjorie Crossland. The watchable “Louisa” was modestly popular at the box office for Universal Pictures.
