“Lilo & Stitch” is an animated science fiction movie about a Hawaiian girl from Kauai who adopts a dog not knowing that he is really a genetically-altered alien from another planet. She also does not know that he is on the run from the intergalactic police. This charming film is well written and superbly directed by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois, with an aloha-filled story devised by Sanders.
The voice cast includes Daveigh Chase as Lilo Pelekai, Chris Sanders as Stitch/Experiment 626, Tia Carrere, Jason Scott Leigh, David Ogden Stiers, Kevin McDonald, Ving Rhames, Amy Hill, Kevin Michael Richardson, and Zoe Caldwell as the Grand Councilwoman, the leader of the Galactic Federation. The watchable “Lilo & Stitch” was a big hit in theatrical release for Walt Disney Feature Animation, Buena Vista Pictures Distribution, and The Walt Disney Company.
Direct-to-DVD sequels include “Stitch! The Movie” (2003) and “Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch” (2005). “Lilo & Stitch” came out in 2025 as a live-action adaptation with many of the same actors, this time in person!
