My Review

“Letters to God” is a Christian drama movie based on a true story about an eight-year-old boy, stricken with cancer, who writes letters to God, intercepted by the local mailman. This inspiring film was produced and directed by David Nixon in his big screen debut

Nixon managed to put together a motion picture with good pacing and outstanding character development. The 110-minute film sped by rapidly. The screenplay was well written by Patrick Doughtie, Art D’Alessandro, Sandra Thrift, and Cullan Douglas.

Tanner Maguire is outstanding as young Tyler Doherty. He really puts heart and soul into the role. Other cast members include Robyn Lively, Jeffrey Johnson, Bailee Madison, Maree Cheatham, and Ralph Waite, Mr. Walton of CBS-TV’s “The Waltons” (1972-1981).

“Letters to God” performed moderately well at the box office, for a faith-based picture. It was financed by David Nixon’s Possibility Pictures.
