My Review

“Left Behind: The Movie” is a faith-based apocalyptic thriller film whose story is centered around four people who are left behind after the Rapture of the Church. Director Vic Sarin gets credit for good pacing of the story and excellent production values, such as special effects, cinematography, editing, and good performances by the actors. The screenplay by Alan B. McElroy, Joe Goodman, and Paul Lalonde is lucid and well-written, adapted from the series of “Left Behind” novels by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins.

The cast is headed by Kirk Cameron, Brad Johnson, Janaya Stephens, and Clarence Gilyard. They do an outstanding job as The Tribulation Force. Co-stars include Chelsea Noble (AKA Mrs. Kirk Cameron), Colin Fox, Bob Carlisle, Rebecca St. James, Christie MacFadyen, Neil Crone, Thomas Hauff, Krista Bridges, Daniel Pilon, and Gordon Currie as the diabolical Nicolae Carpathia, the antichrist. TV preachers T. D. Jakes, John Hagee, and Jack Van Impe appear in cameos.

The conclusion: Don’t be left behind and watch “Left Behind: The Movie” from Cloud Ten Pictures and Namesake Entertainment. Two sequels would follow: “Left Behind: Tribulation Force” (2002) and “Left Behind: World at War” (2005).
