My Review

The Last Days adventures of the Tribulation Force continue in “Left Behind II: Tribulation Force.” This sequel to 2000’s “Left Behind: The Movie,” which concluded with the Rapture of the Church, picks up the story one week after the Rapture with hundreds of millions of people, who have vanished without a trace, still missing. There is chaos around the world and the people left behind begin to look to U. N. Secretary General Nicolae Carpathia for leadership. The general public is unaware that Carpathia is the antichrist.

The stars of the show are Kirk Cameron, Brad Johnson, Clarence Gilyard, and Janaya Stephens as the Tribulation Force, tasked with the assignment of letting people know the truth about Carpathia and the Christian gospel. Gordon Currie projects the right amount of creepiness in his portrayal of Carpathia. Co-stars include Colin Fox, Lubomir Mykytiuk, Christopher Bondy, and Leslie Carlson and Louis Negin as the Two Witnesses.

“Left Behind II: Tribulation Force” was a modest success at the box office for a faith-based film, from director Bill Corcoran and screenwriters Andre Van Heerden, Paul Lalonde, and Peter Lalonde. Producer Paul Lalonde adapted the film series from the “Left Behind” book series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins. The third film would be “Left Behind: World at War” in 2005.
