My Review

Robin Wright made her directorial debut and starred in dramatic motion picture “Land.”  This story about a woman who moves to an isolated cabin in the mountains makes for an absorbing film thanks to smooth direction by Wright and an efficiently written screen play by Jesse Chatham and Erin Dignam. The picture’s brevity at an hour and a half helped in its watchability.

Wright’s excellent performance dominated much of the screen time, as did the stunning scenery in Alberta, Canada.  Kudos to cinematographer Bobby Bukowski.  The small supporting cast behind Robin Wright includes Demián Bichir, Sarah Dawn Pledge, Kim Dickens, and Brad Leland, all contributing to the interesting independent picture “Land.”

The multi-talented Robin Wright has come a long way since her breakout role as Kelly Capwell in the daytime soap “Santa Barbara” in the mid-1980’s.
