“Kung Fu Hustle” is a parody of Chinese martial arts films, with lots of drama and comic relief to keep viewers occupied. This highly entertaining Cantonese language action-comedy film stars Chinese actor Stephen Chow, who also directed and had a hand in producing and writing the screenplay.
Chow plays Sing, a young man who makes poor choices in life, such as joining the Axe Gang. The fast moving film follows his adventures, with well-orchestrated martial arts scenes supervised by Yuen Woo-ping. The actors deliver excellent performances including Stephen Chow, Eva Huang as his love interest, Yuen Wah and Yuen Qiu as the landlord and landlady, Danny Chan Kwok-kwan, Leung Siu-lung, et al.
The watchable “Kung Fu Hustle” was a big hit at the global box office for Huayi Brothers, Beijing Film Studios, Taihe Film Investment, Star Overseas, China Film Group, and Columbia Pictures Film Production Asia.
