My Review

Producer-director Matthew Vaughn has put together a sequel to his 2014 film “Kingsman: The Secret Service” with mixed results. “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” has some fun spy action sequences coupled with comedic elements, but is plagued with excessive violence and bad language.

The large and talented cast does not disappoint. Returnees from the original include Colin Firth, Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, and Edward Holcroft. Newcomers include Jeff Bridges, Halle Berry, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, Emily Watson, Hanna Alstrom, Bjorn Granath, Lena Endre, Bruce Greenwood as the President of the United States, and Julianne Moore in a stand out role as Poppy Adams, a perky, goody-goody appearing woman who is also a drug kingpin involved in various nefarious schemes, including kidnapping singer Elton John, who appears as himself.

The excellent screenplay by Jane Goldman and Matthew Vaughn helped to make “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” a hit in theatrical release for 20th Century Fox.
