“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” is the story of a young ape named Noa who goes on a journey with a human woman named Mae that leads him to question what the future hold for apes and humans alike. Producer-director Wes Ball (“Maze Runner” trilogy 2014-2018) did a good job at this direct sequel to 2017’s “War for the Planet of the Apes,” from a well-paced script by Josh Friedman.
The cast includes Owen Teague, Freya Allan, Kevin Durand, Peter Macon, William H. Macy, Sara Wiseman, Neil Sandilands, Eka Darville, Dichen Lachman, and Karin Konoval. Good production values, interesting performances, and outstanding special effects all characterize the watchable “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,” successful at the box office for Oddball Entertainment, James T. Reed Productions, TSG Entertainment, 20th Century Fox, and The Walt Disney Company.
The “Planet of the Apes” franchise has produced ten films in 1968, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1974, 2001, 2011, 2014, 2017, and 2024. More to come, no doubt, especially with Walt Disney Pictures in charge.
