“King of California” is a quirky comedy-drama film from Mike Cahill, making his debut as director and screenwriter. Michael Douglas and Evan Rachel Wood deliver winsome performances, with a supporting cast that includes Allyson Ashley Arm, Willis Burks II, Laura Kachergus, Paul Lieber, Kathleen Wilhoite, Greg Davis Jr., Angel Oquendo, Ashley Greene, Will Rothhaar, and Jason Auer.
“King of California” was an independently produced film that flopped at the box office, but is a watchable movie on DVD.
