My Review

Elvis Presley delivers a fine performance as a boxer in “Kid Galahad.” He plays Walter Gulick, recently discharged from the Army, in debt, and in need of employment, which he finds in the boxing ring. The film contains numerous musical numbers written and composed by Jeff Alexander.

Director Phil Karlson (“The Texas Rangers” 1951) put the film together from a screenplay written by William Fay. Co-stars include Gig Young, Lola Albright, Charles Bronson, Joan Blackman, Roy Roberts, Ned Glass, Ed Asner, Joe Esposito, Robert Emhardt, David Lewis, and Judson Pratt. “Kid Galahad” was successful at the box office for the Mirisch Corporation and United Artists. It was a remake of the 1937 film of the same name starring Edward G. Robinson, Bette Davis, Humphrey Bogart.
