Executive producer Steven Spielberg delivers the goods in “Jurassic World.” This fourth film in the “Jurassic Park” series (and the first of the “Jurassic World” trilogy, with sequels to come in 2018 and 2022) is choc full of scary dinosaur action sequences and special effects, with a well executed and fast moving storyline. In other words, classic Spielberg.
Credit for a job well done also goes to director Colin Trevorrow (“Safety Not Guaranteed” 2012) and producers Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley, as well as to screenwriters Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Derek Connolly, and Trevorrow.
Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard make classic leads for the picture. The star of last year’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” and Ron Howard’s oldest daughter do quite well here with good performances and great on-screen chemistry. Co-stars include Nick Robinson, Ty Simpkins, Vincent D’Onofrio, Irrfan Khan, Omar Sy, B. D. Wong, Jake Johnson, Lauren Lapkus, Brian Tee, Katie McGrath, Judy Greer, and Andy Buckley. Jimmy Buffet and Jimmy Kimmel appear as themselves in cameos.
The very watchable “Jurassic World” made over $1.6 billion in theatrical release for Amblin Entertainment, Legendary Pictures, The Kennedy/Marshall Company, and Universal Pictures.
