My Review

Director Steven Spielberg (“Duel” 1971) created a movie masterpiece with the science fiction thriller “Jurassic Park.” Spielberg and screenwriters Michael Crichton and David Koepp tell the story of a new theme park featuring cloned dinosaurs falling victim to industrial sabotage, causing safety protocols to fail, resulting in the animals attacking visitors. This film was adapted from Crichton’s 1990 novel of the same name, and has the most scary moments on film since Spielberg’s own “Jaws” premiered in 1975.

The special effects and the animatronics were simply outstanding and very realistic, developed by George Lucas’ Industrial Light & Magic. “Jurassic Park” won three Oscars: Best Visual Effects, Best Sound, and Best Sound Effects Editing. The human cast includes Sam Neall, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Richard Attenborough, Bob Peck, Martin Ferrero, BD Wong, Samuel L. Jackson, Wayne Knight, Joseph Mazzello, Ariana Richards, Jerry Molen, Miguel Sandoval, and film veteran Richard Kiley as the voice of the “Jurassic Park” tour guide.

“Jurassic Park” earned over one billion dollars for director Steven Spielberg, producers Kathleen Kennedy and Gerald R. Molen, Amblin Entertainment, and Universal Pictures. Sequels were released in 1997, 2001, 2015, 2018, and 2022.
