Walt Disney has released a film called “Jungle Cruise,” yet another motion picture adapted from their theme park attractions. This is not the best film ever made, but the movie does provide solid, watchable family entertainment.
Dwayne Johnson plays a riverboat captain who takes scientist Emily Blunt and her brother through a jungle (on the familiar jungle cruise boat featured at Disneyland) searching for the Tree of Life. Johnson and Blunt display good chemistry with the light comedy material and stock drama, featuring a supporting cast that includes Jack Whitehall, Edgar Ramirez, Jesse Piemons, and Paul Giamatti.
“Jungle Cruise“ was a modest hit at theaters, and would likely have been more successful if not for the corona virus pandemic. Walt Disney Pictures lost money on this picture when the advertising budget is taken into consideration.
