My Review

Police chief Jesse Stone is busy with two investigations: The shooting of the state homicide captain and a baby kidnapping case. So goes the fifth of nine installments of the made-for-television movies based on the series of novels by Robert B. Parker.

This production proceeds as smoothly as it predecessors due to consistent direction by Robert Harmon and an excellent teleplay by Renni Kern. The cinematography by Rene Ohashi received several awards due to photogenic location shoots in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Tom Selleck is back as the flawed police chief of the fictitious town of Paradise, Massachusetts. His multi-layered performance in this series is probably among the best in his career. Selleck also serves as executive producer.

Returnees include Kathy Baker, Kohl Sudduth, Stephen McHattie, and William Devane. Guest stars include Leslie Hope, Jessica Hecht, Joanna Miles, and Camryn Manheim. “Jesse Stone: Thin Ice” was first aired on CBS in March, 2009.
