Tom Selleck continues his popular portrayal of a flawed yet thoughtful police chief in “Jesse Stone: Night Passage.” This second made-for-television film in the “Jesse Stone” series is a prequel of sorts as it tells the story of Stone’s departure from the Los Angeles Police Department homicide division to become the police chief in the small town of Paradise, Massachusetts.
Selleck’s easy-going demeanor is perfect for the part of Jesse Stone. He is helped by the expert direction of Robert Harman, who was at the helm of the first “Stone Cold” in 2005 and who also directed Selleck’s portrayal of Gen. Dwight Eisenhower in 2004’s “Ike: Countdown to D-Day.” The top-notch teleplay by Tom Epperson and the filming at scenic Nova Scotia locales by cinematographer David Gribble were also positive contributions to “Jesse Stone: Night Passage,” aired on CBS in January, 2006.
