My Review

“Jagged Edge” is an exciting courtroom drama where Glenn Close plays an attorney defending Jeff Bridges’ character, a man accused of murdering his wife. Complications arise when they become romantically involved.

Economical and focused direction by Richard Marquand (“Star Wars: Return of the Jedi” 1983) and an airtight screenplay by Joe Eszterhas keep the audience’s attention throughout the 108 minute motion picture.

Close and Bridges and the rest of the cast turn out some dandy performances. Robert Loggia was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role as a colorful private detective. Others include Peter Coyote, Maria Mayenzet, John Dehner, Karen Austin, Gus Boyd, Lance Hendriksen, William Allen Young, Leigh Taylor-Young, Brandon Call, and Michael Dorn in his first big screen appearance. In 1987, he started his role as Lt. Worf, which he would continue in various “Star Trek” television shows and movies to this day, the longest running “Trek” character in history.

With an outstanding musical score composed by John Barry, the watchable “Jagged Edge” was a hit in theatrical release for Columbia Pictures.
