My Review

Paul Walker and Jessica Alba play a couple who live peacefully on the beach in the Bahamas until they discover a famous underwater shipwreck and a downed plane, with drugs, side-by-side. They are soon caught between drug dealers and the local authorities in “Into the Blue.” The exciting drama proceeds from there, well directed by John Stockwell (“Cheaters” 2000) from a script by Matt Johnson.

The film has even pacing, loads of drama, good underwater scenes from cinematographer Shane Hurlbut, and acceptable performances by the actors. The supporting cast behind Walker and Alba include Scott Caan, Josh Brolin, Ashley Scott, James Frain, Tyson Beckford, Dwayne Adway, and Javon Frazer as Danny. The watchable “Into the Blue” was a flop at the box office for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Columbia Pictures, Mandalay Pictures, and Sony Pictures Releasing.

Jessica Alba was nominated for a Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Actress for her performances in “Into the Blue” and “Fantastic Four,” both in 2005. A sequel called “Into the Blue 2: The Reef” was released directly to DVD in 2009.
