“In the Electric Mist” is an offbeat crime drama from French director Bertrand Tavernier which tells the story of a rural Louisiana sheriff investigating the death of a young woman, with the possible involvement of two Hollywood stars in town to make a movie. The well paced film was from a screenplay by Jerzy Kromolowski and Mary Olson-Kromolowski, adapted from the 1993 novel “In the Electric Mist with Confederate Dead” by James Lee Burke.
The cast includes Tommy Lee Jones, John Goodman, Peter Sarsgaard, Ned Beatty, Mary Steenburgen, Kelly Macdonald, James Gammon, and Justina Machado. “In the Electric Mist” did not do well in theatrical release.
