Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy give us some escapist entertainment in the buddy road picture “Identity Thief.” Director Seth Gordon (“Horrible Bosses” 2011) and screenwriter Craig Mazin provide the pair with loads of fun material to keep the picture moving for nearly two hours. Bateman plays a man in Colorado who finds out that Florida resident McCarthy has stolen his identity, and he travels there to take here back to Colorado to straighten things out.
The supporting cast includes Jon Favreau, Amanda Peet, Morris Chestnut, John Cho, Robert Patrick, Genesis Rodriguez, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Eric Stonestreet, Jonathan Banks, and Ben Falcone, McCarthy’s better half. “Identity Thief” was successful in theatrical release for Universal Pictures.
