My Review

The popular directors Andrew Erwin and Jon Erwin have come out with another high quality faith based film called “I Still Believe.” It tells the true story of contemporary Christian music singer Jeremy Camp and his wife Melissa, who passed away from cancer four months after they were married in 2000.

The Erwin Brothers have retained the same high quality production values for this project that they employed in previous movies like “Woodlawn” (2015) and “I Can Only Imagine” (2018). The excellent screenplay by Jon Erwin, Jon Gunn, and Madeline Carroll was adapted from Camp’s autobiography of the same name. His song “I Still Believe” was a hit, and prominently featured in the motion picture.

Actors K. J. Apa and Britt Robertson portrayed the young Camps as they went through their troubled courtship and marriage. The cast was rounded out by Melissa Roxburgh, Nathan Parsons, Abigail Cowen, and, playing Camp’s parents, veteran movie star Gary Sinise and country music artist Shania Twain.

“I Still Believe” is a very watchable and inspiring Christian movie from Kingdom Story Company and Lionsgate. It did not do well at the box office due to the release at the beginning of the corona virus shutdown in March, 2020.
