“I. S. S.” is a contemporary science fiction thriller movie about Russians and Americans aboard the International Space Station when war breaks out on Earth between Russia and the United States. The mood is very tense as both sides apparently receive orders to take over the I. S. S. at any cost.
Director Gabriela Cowperthwaite put together a decent drama that does have some plot inconsistencies, but overall passes the grade as a watchable motion picture. The film definitely has a believable premise with the story take right from today’s news headlines.
The lucid screenplay by Nick Shafir did provide good dialogue for the cast, which includes Ariana DeBose, Chris Messina, and John Gallagher Jr. as the American astronauts, and Masha Mashkova, Costa Ronin, and Pilou Asbaek as the Russian cosmonauts. “I. S. S.” was a flop at the box office for LD Entertainment and Bleeker Street Media.
