My Review

“I Am Number Four” is a science fiction action film telling the story of a teenage alien on earth on the run from other aliens from his home planet who are hunting him down. This passable scifi movie has the ring of familiarity, a storyline we have seen before. The motion picture had adequate direction by D. J. Caruso (“The Salton Sea” 2002) and an uneven screenplay by Alfred Gough, Miles Millar, Martin Noxon, adapted from a 2020 novel of the same name by Pittacus Lore.

The cast includes Alex Pettyfer, Timothy Olyphant, Teresa Palmer, Dianna Agron, Calian McAuliffe, Kevin Durand, Jake Abel, Garrett M. Brown, Brain Howe, Reuben Langdon, Judith Hoag, Ken Beck, Tucker Albrizzi, and Emily Wickersham, soon to gain fame as Special Agent Eleanor Bishop on CBS’s long running show “NCIS” (2013-2021).

“I Am Number Four” was successful at the box office, but not enough of a money-maker for a franchise, so the producers canceled plans for a sequel. This includes producer Michael Bay, DreamWorks Pictures, Reliance Big Entertainment, Bay Films, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, and The Walt Disney Company.
