My Review

Terrorists detonate a nuclear bomb in Los Angeles as the U. S. slides into war and chaos in “Homestead.” A group of people take refuge in an elaborate fortress in the mountains, and are soon dealing with fallout and displaced persons seeking help at their doorstep. Director Ben Smallbone put together a believable motion pictures with good writing, strong performances, and quality production values.

The cast includes Neal McDonough, Dawn Olivieri, Bailey Chase, Kearran Giovanni, Susan Misner, Currie Graham, Jesse Hutch, Tyler Lofton, Olivia Sanabia, and Kevin Lawson as Tick. The film is based on a book series called “Black Autumn” by Jason Ross and Jeff Kirkham. Ross co-wrote the screenplay with Phillip Abraham and Leah Bateman.

“Homestead” has performed well at the box office, considering it is an independent production, from Black Autumn Show, Skies Fall Media Group, and Angel Studios. It also serves a pilot of sorts to a television series, which has eight episodes slated to stream on the Angel Studios website.
