“Here” is a drama film about multiple generations of families and married couples occupying the same house over the course of a century or more. Director Robert Zemeckis (“Romancing the Stone” 1984) presents the film in a nonlinear narrative, from a script he co-wrote with Eric Roth, adapted from the 2014 novel by Richard McGuire. Considering that the story was told in a disrupted storyline, the film was easy to follow and holds the average viewer’s attention for the 104 minute running time.
Tom Hanks and Robin Wright are the primary stars of the show, delivering their usual winsome performances. Zemeckis used a new artificial intelligence technology called Metaphysic Live to “de-age” the actors, especially Hanks and Wright, who dominate the storyline. Co-stars include Paul Bettany, Kelly Reilly, Michelle Dockery, Gwilym Lee, David Fynn, Daniel Betts, Jonathan Aris, Lilly Aspell, Joel Oulette, Nicholas Pinnock, and Stuart Bowman.
“Here” premiered at number five in the weekend box office for producer Robert Zemeckis, Miramax, ImageMovers, TriStar Pictures, and Sony Pictures Releasing. Watch out for dinosaurs roaming the area.
