My Review

“Hard Rain” is an independently produced disaster film the tells of the trials and tribulations of people caught in the worst rainstorm in the history of the Midwestern United States. The stars are as varied as their roles: Edward Asner and Christian Slater are armored truck drivers, Randy Quaid is the county sheriff, Betty White and Richard Dysart play a local couple trying to keep their heads above water, literally, and Morgan Freeman has a role as a troublemaker.

Other cast members include Minnie Driver, Jay Patterson, Ricky Harris, Dann Florek, and Mark Rolston. Director Mikael Salomon (“Rome” television series on HBO, 2005-2007) and screenwriter Graham Yost have at least created 96 minutes of watchable and laughable waterlogged entertainment in “Hard Rain.” It was a massive disaster at the box office for Nordisk Film, BBC Film, Tele-Munchen, Toho-Towa Co., Mutual Film Company, and Paramount Pictures.
