My Review

“Hangman’s Knot” is a western movie telling the story of a group of Confederate soldiers who rob some gold from a shipment guarded by Union troops, only to later discover that the Civil War had ended a month earlier. Director-screenwriter Roy Huggins put together this lucid motion picture, filmed in Technicolor on location in Lone Pine and Simi Valley, California.

The cast includes Randolph Scott, Donna Reed, Lee Marvin, Claude Jarman Jr., Jeanette Nolan, Frank Faylen, Glenn Langan, Clem Bevans, Ray Teal, and Richard Denning, years before his most famous role as the Governor of Hawaii on CBS’s “Hawaii Five-0” (1968-1980). “Hangman’s Knot” was produced by Scott-Brown Productions and Columbia Pictures.
