My Review

“Gone Girl” is a riveting murder mystery about a man whose wife disappears on their fifth wedding anniversary. Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike play the leading couple, superbly directed by David Fincher (“Alien 3” 1992) from a marvelous screenplay by Gillian Flynn, who adapted the work from her own 2012 novel of the same name. Fincher made this film in the suspense-style of Alfred Hitchcock; the unpredictability of what happens from one moment to the next is truly worthy of the Master of Suspense himself.

The supporting cast includes Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry, Carrie Coon, Kim Dickens, Missi Pyle, Sela Ward, Lisa Banes, David Clennon, Patrick Fugit, Casey Wilson, and Boyd Holbrook. Rosamund Pike was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress for portraying the “Gone Girl,” very successful in theatrical release for producer Reese Witherspoon, Regency Enterprises, TSG Entertainment, and 20th Century Fox.
