The real star of “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” is not Godzilla or Kong, but the main attraction is the special effects. In fact, the FX is the only thing this movie has going for it, as it does not have a discernable plot or storyline and has lousy performances by the cast. Director Adam Wingard, who gave us 2012’s “Godzilla vs. Kong,” to which this is a sequel, did a lousy job on all fronts. The story of Kong encountering relatives in “Hollow Earth” is absurd. And then later in the picture he again battles Godzilla! So bad!
The actors delivered abysmal performances, including Dan Stevens, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Kaylee Hottle, Alex Ferns, Fala Chen, Rachel House, and Anthony Brandon Wong. Not surprisingly, the unwatchable nonsense “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” has been successful at the box office for Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures.
