My Review

Elvis Presley plays a Hawaii-based fishing guide and sailor who hopes to purchase the boat he operates for his employer, who is retiring to Arizona. He also gets involved in a love triangle with two women in “Girls! Girls! Girls!” This typical Elvis musical-comedy vehicle was well directed by Norman Tourag, who was at the helm of nine Presley pictures. That must make him something of an authority on the subject, from a passable screenplay written by Edward Anhalt and Allen Weiss.

Co-stars include Stella Stevens, Laurel Goodwin, Jeremy Slate, Benson Fong, Robert Strauss, Beulah Quo, Guy Lee, Ginny Tiu, and drummer Hal Blaine in an uncredited role. “Girls! Girls! Girls!” was a hit at the box office for producer Hal B. Wallis, Hal Wallis Productions, and Paramount Pictures. This movie was the second of three Elvis pictures filmed in Hawaii: “Blue Hawaii” (1961) and “Paradise Hawaiian Style” (1966). The popular Presley hit song “Return to Sender” was featured in “Girls! Girls! Girls!,” not one of his best films, but very watchable escapist programming nonetheless.
