The most boring movie of 2017 is….”Ghost in the Shell.” This story of a human future where people are augmented by cybernetic improvements was based on a series of Japanese books (by Masamune Shirow) and subsequent animated films. The DreamWorks Pictures production team definitely lost something in translation, as it suffers from a poorly written screenplay and lack of character development.
The cast, including the star Scarlett Johansson, seem to go through the motions with the just plain awful script by Jamie Moss, William Wheeler, and Ehren Kruger. Other actors include Michael Carmen Pitt, Juliette Binoche, Peter Ferdinando, Takeshi Kitano, Pilou Asbaek, and Chin Han. Director Rupert Sanders had better luck with “Snow White and the Huntsman” back in 2012 than he did with Paramount Pictures’ “Ghost in the Shell” here in 2017.
